Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) introduces its latest endeavour, the Bachelor in Fashion Design with Marketing (Honours) programme, which took place in the spotlight of the ItalCham Malaysia – Gala Night.

It is an extravagant event held alongside the 8th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, a global spectacle supported by the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Trade Agency in Malaysia.

Ten dazzling collections, each telling a story that weaves together the essence of the “Italian Cuisine to Couture – the Incredible Diversity of Food and Wine Meets Fashion Designers” theme, serve as a canvas for the boundless creativity of UniKL’s inaugural student cohort, inspired by esteemed lecturers.

This exclusive glimpse into the world of UniKL’s fashion programme, hosted at UniKL Malaysia Italy Design Institute (UniKL MIDI), promises to showcase the uniqueness and innovation cultivated within its walls.

Leading the charge in this fusion of industrial and educational experience are Programme Coordinator, Mohamad Fareez Azuan and Fashion Lecturer, Hazizul Abd Aziz. Launched in September 2023, the programme has already captured the imagination of approximately 11 students.

Mohamad Fareez shared his excitement about the Gala Night participation, stating, “It is a big event for our department and students, providing exposure to the actual fashion industry and the intricacies of managing events.

“Though we are still new, our campaign for student applications is underway, and with this programme, we hope to attract even more future students to join us at UniKL.”

The event saw the presence of notable figures, including the Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia, Massimo Rustico, ItalCham Malaysia’s President Michele Dossi, and UniKL’s Acting President/Chief Executive Officer, Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Azman Senin.

“We aimed for Italy because, as we all know, Italy excels in arts, and it is excellent for our branding. It provides exposure to the industry and the entire process of organising events and creating collections for the runway, which is a crucial aspect of our syllabus,” added Hazizul.

This three-year programme, comprising 120 credits, is tailor-made for individuals passionate about arts and design.

Offering a harmonious blend of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, it focuses on critical areas of the fashion industry, including Fashion Design, Fashion Branding, Fashion Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Fashion Manufacturing.

Step into the dynamic world of fashion with UniKL’s new programme, where students not only learn but also embody the skills and knowledge essential for success in the ever-evolving fashion landscape.
